"This is a strong and dedicated group of workers who are looking forward to having a stronger voice in their workplace," said Craig Saunders, a CUPE representative who is involved in the drive.
The vote was overwhelmingly positive. As of today, the group of more than 150 workers including child and youth workers, social workers, psychologists, housekeepers, childcare workers and registered nurses are CUPE members.
CUPE is Canada’s largest union, with more than 700,000 members across the country working in municipalities, healthcare, social services, universities, schools, transportation and communications.
